FAQ

Good to know before you download

Is it free?

Yes. Playing, puzzles and lessons are free to download and use, and puzzle explanations stay free for everyone. The optional Pro subscription removes the daily limits on new puzzles, hints, questions to Atlas and post-game reviews, unlocks the full weakness profile and removes interstitial ads.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Games against the computer and the preinstalled puzzles work offline. Asking Atlas, the weekly league and syncing between devices need a connection.

Which phones does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 15 or later, and Android phones with Android 7.0 or later.

What's the difference between the APK and the Google Play version?

The features are the same. The APK is for Android phones without Google Play: download it and allow "install unknown apps" when your phone asks. The APK doesn't update through Google Play, so the app tells you when a new version is out. Every release comes with a SHA-256 checksum you can use to check the file you downloaded.

Can Atlas get things wrong?

Moves and evaluations come from the Stockfish engine, and weaknesses are found by clear rules. Atlas only puts those results into plain words, and every explanation is checked before you see it.

Which languages are supported?
